Wallowa Lake Tramway operates during the winter months under special occasions.

The winter months at Wallowa Lake bring a special beauty and peacefulness to the mountain communities of the Wallowa Valley.  The season also brings the opportunity of a variety of winter recreational activities. Wallowa Lake Tramway is the gate way to many of these activities.

The high speed Tram will whisk you up approximately 4000 feet to the summit of Mount Howard In the comfort of our enclosed four-passenger gondola cabin.

The summit provides spectacular winter views of the Wallowa Mountains, the deep blue waters of Wallowa Lake, the majestic peaks of the Eagle Cap Wilderness Area, the distant Seven Devil Mountains of Idaho and the Wallowa Valley below with the communities of Joseph, Enterprise, and Wallowa in the distance. This panoramic view was recently designated best in Oregon.

The top of Mount Howard is the home to the Northwest's highest restaurant. During the winter months The Summit Grill serves an abbreviated version of our Northwest Fair summer menu. The restaurant also features local micro brews and regional wines. See the summit grill section.

The mountain top also serves as the center for several winter activities. Whether you choose just to enjoy the view and a menu item from the grill, or glide along  2 ½
miles of groomed cross county ski trails, snowshoe across the mountain summit, or enjoy the powder snow of the wilderness slopes on your skis or snowboard. This will be a visit you won't forget.

LOCATION

Wallowa Lake Tramway is located in the far northeastern corner of Oregon. Washington state to the north, and Idaho to the east. The tram is located at the south end of Wallowa Lake at the base of the Wallowa Mountains.
